Aiga Praulina - Textile Art

Artist Statement

It is my credo that old materials, which have been used before, are much more meaningful than new ones. They have a history, have a story to tell. So I want to give with my work a new value to the old. I apply traditional techniques such as crocheting, which are almost forgotten but highly valuable, mentally and artistically. It is precisely the use of old, gray T-shirts, the simplest fabrics, to process them with fine yarns, which were saved just before being thrown away, that point out that everything can come to life again, if it is treated in the right way. The created shapes were inspired by nature. That is why they are also depicted in nature.
